WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? French/Japanese bakery Mon K Patisserie + mini-walk along Taylor Creek Trail by an urban river.. Two good reasons to get out of the house!
It took me three visits to Mon K Pâtisserie before I understood that "Mon K" (pronounced “mon cas” in my French mind, which means "my case") referred to “monkey”, hence the little wool monkeys that adorn the place.
This excellent French/Japanese bakery masters perfectly baguettes and pastries (in my family, we have tried everything). They also make beautiful pastries.
Normally, a few tables allow you to eat a croque-madame or other gourmet options on the premises. For the time being, we can order take-out. They also serve coffee.
On leaving Mon K, walk 5 minutes north on Coxwell and continue past O'Connor to reach the small Cullen Bryant Park. At the edge of the park, 132 steps lead down to the Taylor Creek Trail along Taylor-Massey Creek.
In addition to the paved trail, which is shared by cyclists and pedestrians, there is a small, charming dirt path that winds its way along the urban river. Perfect for dreamy walkers and photographers.
If you want to go for a longer walk, you can walk west to the Don Valley Expressway, and east to Victoria Park Avenue.
1040 Coxwell Avenue
Hours: (last checked on July 31) Tuesday to Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm (closed Sunday and Monday). ATTENTION: Closed throughout August 2020!
